The next one million dollar websites?

Today my Blogotition competitor Nico started a new website project:

43ads.com

No, not just another 43/web 2.0 website, but a nice advertising idea with payback guaranty if the banner is our of the game.

How does it work?
There are 43 slots where the ads are placed, the ad with the highest bis gets a central spot for a 200*200px banner. If there are more then 43 bids the one with the lowest price is removed and the advertiser gets his money back or more if the new bid is higher than the bid for place 42 (check the information at 43ads.com to learn how it works).

There was last week a website with a similar offer, with the result a Alexa rank less then 3.000 (today)

43ads is just linkexperiment.com with images. Not bad but not new.

If I had to classify what’s “fresh” on advertising, I would say that most promising sites are linkexperiment.com, mmmzr.com and of course, my site, thechosenlink.com =)

That’s not true, at 43ads you get some money back. linkexperiment is just collecting money (don’t know how about thechosenlink)

Who cares if it’s original? None of the “my twist on the 1 million dollar website” pages are really original.

There’s another similar concept being done here: http://bla.st

I like how they’re offering an auction format for their ad marketplace, and it also has a very “web 2.0″ feel to it.

Just added my first card at bla.st and must say that this look really good. The combination to offer free advertising with an option of bidding for the tags you want to promote is a really good idea.

Thank you Paul for sharing this!

Hi, I’m the developer of bla.st – glad to hear you like the site! And thanks for posting cards- I’m promoting the site as much as I can and it’s steadily gaining traffic.

I’ve just put up an article that talks about 43 ads and some other interesting sites advertising sites:

milliondollarhomepage was a great idea and most important was well covered by media, which was the important thing behind the success of that website. Still, 2 thumbsup for the idea.
