A new WordPress theme for our blog

Finally I found a new design for this blog site!

I looked after a new theme the during the last weeks on several places and tried also commercial products as a “Woo” theme. Most of themes I found doesn’t met my requirements. Premium wordpress themes are often more unique, but it’s not possible to see if the basic code works for you (a preview version shows often a different situation) and really good free templates are rare ones

Why changing the old theme?

I like the old one very much but the colors doesn’t fit to the subject from this blog (that’s what I think). Next I like to do a little experiment on how to make money with Google Adsense and the old template was not really optimized for Adsense. I wanted a theme where the main page looks different from archive pages, right this is something you decide by yourself…

Finally I found the DeepBlue theme from DailyBlogTips. I used their StudioPress theme already on some other blog and I’m very happy with the coding. The theme files are very complete and the CSS/XHTML code is very structured and clean.

What do you think is the change to a new theme a step forward? I like to hear your opinion, please leave a comment.

Dynamic Flash Photo Galleries!

The latest product from TemplateMonster is some new CMS with a stylish flash powered photo gallery front end. While the product is developed for the “non professional” webmaster are the CMS features really advanced. The gallery script looks a little like the bigger PHP photo galleries but there is need no for a database and the CMS has some nice features like:

automatic thumbnail generation (loads much faster than resizing a photo using Flash’s jpg object)
a PHP powered file upload
an unlimited number of categories and photos for each category (only the load time is the limit)
easy to modify descriptions for photo’s and categories
The ability to modify all information and configuration via the text editor (if PHP is not available on the websites host)

The CMS looks very clean and doesn’t require a lot of HTML knowledge to manage any photo gallery listing. The price is maybe a little to high: Starting at $235 each license could be a little to to high for some webmasters. On the other site the front end looks very nice and would be an impression for every visitor!

Premium Zen-Cart themes updated for the latest Zen!

Some days ago TemplatesMonster has announced that the latest Zen-cart themes (templates) are updated for use with Zen-cart version 1.3x. These themes are fully compatible with the latest features.

According TemplateMonster:

For websites using the older versions of Zen we will still offer templates compatible with the older system, even while we offer the updated models. Templates for the old and new systems are not interchangeable so we will offer both.

That will say that users of older version of Zen-cart are able to use this new and modern templates.

Currently there are 20 unique templates with different styles for almost every kind of business.
