Yesterday I played a while with the Google video search and noticed something new in the SERP’s…
While using several popular keywords the results are different then before; actually nothing special but this time I noticed very often a matching Wikipedia page within the top10 of the Google search results, try football or wordpress to see what I mean.
This way the user is able to get first information about his keyword without clicking around, just from the first result page…
I remember that community sites are often included in the first pages of the SERP’s, for example this Swicki has several visits every day referred by Google (I think). Maybe its time to create a Wikipedia page for your desired keyword(s) to promote a particular website…
“The 100 Lists Web Directory” is offering links from the homepage to website owners with the 10 highest bids. Some webmaster would say that’s a good chance to get PR5 link from a busy website directory. As one of the first customers I hold some of these links for only a few dollars over several months. Until last week: My links are removed from the main page by some higher bids. I did two times a higher offer before I decided to don’t pay anymore to get this “hot” listing again.
Today I found some interesting article on the weblog from Info Vilesilencer, some important information to get an answer about how much you should pay for a paid directory inclusion. There is also a list of recommended low cost link directories (I didn’t test them yet).
The value of a directory listing is based on different factors like links on a regular websites. What is the PageRank and is the link SEO friendly? But for a paid directory inclusion there also are other factors important: Is the price a one time payment and will this directory still exists over a few years?
With a high submission fee it will be more difficult to decide to submit a website then with a lower fee. If you’re not sure, then submit your website for free to this SEO friendly directory.
Some weeks before I noticed some new visits at finalwebsites.com coming from the search results of Yahoo. A closer look gave me the idea that high rankings in Google’s SERP’s for searches like “php upload” or “php whois” have similar results in Yahoo. There are results for both queries within the top 10 results of Yahoo and Google now.Ā Also the number of visits referred from Yahoo is doubled in august in comparison with the month july.
In the meantime I learned that Yahoo has “rolled out” a new search index, several comments at various SEO Blog sites shows me that many webmaster are not happy with this new index. I’m happy with the higher rankings and the raised number of visitors from Yahoo but they are stil only 1 percent from the visitors I getting from Google. So there is the question: who is using Yahoo?
Our partner finalwebsites.com has started with a new service for webmasters: the Google PageRank⢠check and PageRank information button. On the website is a live PageRank check possible and there is a simple html code snippet that webmasters can use on their own websites for free. This code modified with the matching web address or URL will show up the current PageRank in an image button. A special feature is that its possible to request the PageRank for almost every URL (there is limit of 100 characters).
