After using the Webdigity Webmaster forums for supporting webmasters which are using the PHP classes and scripts provided on finalwebsites.com a new forum is created. The owner of finalwebsites.com has created a new support forum on his own domain. With this new part of the website it would be easier to provide new information to existing users (release notes, update information) and to help users with the scripts and classes.

People need to register only ones at finalwebsites.com to download the PHP classes and to get help via the forum while using the scripts. It’s not the idea to create a new PHP forum, but to offer an easy and fast way to provide information on the right place.

finalwebsites.com is using the forum software bbpress which is based on the popular blog software WordPress. bbpress has for sure not the same features like Vbulletin or Simple Machine Forums, but is very fast and is based on the web standards. The development of add-ons or plugins is very easy and works the same way as the plugin development for WordPress.

bbpress plugins provided by finalwebsites.com

On the same time finalwebsites.com has started a second new section: “bbpress plugins”. With the first plugin named Moderator New Post Notification it’s possible to notify moderators about new posts made by regular members. While bbpress is using Akismet to prevent forum spam is this another possibility to keep a bbpress powered forum clean.Similar Posts:

Today our partner site finalwebsites.com has announced an important update for the Access_user class. The update is a security update to make the script more safe against computer hacker. While there is not really a problem for existing, working applications, it’s advised to update applications very soon.

The release information:

This is an important (security related) update, in previous versions hackers can guess common and repeating passwords from user. While the “forgotten password” function was based on the password and the user id, it could be possible to change the password for some user (if the hacker knows the users id and the right password). The risk is not very high for most installations but could be work out some trouble. The new version doesn’t use the password for validation anymore. The login name (encrypted) is used together with some “secret” secret string. AU class user can replace the class file but need to update the method calls in the activate password script. You need to add the constant variable SECRET_STRING to the db_config.php file.

Download the updated version from the PHP class here.

For further questions about the class post them to the official support forum.Similar Posts:

Some weeks before I was looking for some advertisement programs to promote my new website project a shopping Cart template affiliate website. After starting a campaign with Adsense and some other CPM banner campaigns I re-visited the AdBrite website.

Text links
There is a moderate collection of websites where you can place your link for a limited time period. In their publisher list are also big names like Opera or Friendster, but they are too expensive according my budget. I selected for my campaign some websites for only a few USD a month. Currently there are running four link campaigns for the template website and I receive several visits a day, but there are zero conversions until now…Conclusion: there are link campaigns from websites with a lot of impressions and that for only a few USD, but I don’t think that these will help you with sales (at least not in my case)

Interstitial Ads (kind of popunders)
I started also a campaign of this ad type, I got a total of 40.000 page views in only a few hours and that for 10USD. It happens while I was driving home from my work with the result that I didn’t noticed this traffic live, but another CPC program has returned a part of my advertising costs.

Publishing
I started a publishing campaign at finalwebsites.com to show some text ads in a regular banner format (468*60). While you’re waiting for advertiser it’s possible to show network. This campaign was very short because I saw max. three different ads and only one was related to my selected categories . I removed the ads to use my spare advertising space (again) for Adsense. Within these few days it was not possible to start a link campaign with some third party advertisers.

Bad unrelated visits
While running a AdBrite CPC network campaign (webmaster related), I noticed several XXX referrals inside my website statistics. My complain by AdBrite was answered within a few days with some USD rebate to my account (it seems to me that AdBrite thinks that this is not so bad…)

I will finish my current link advertising campaigns, but I don’t think that AdBrite is an alternative for Adwords / Adsense or self selected banner CPM/CPC campaigns.Similar Posts:
